Join us for our 2nd Summer Youth Rugby Clinic held in collaboration with Fort Worth Rugby, Aledo Youth Rugby and Fort Worth Parks held on Saturday, July 26. The event is FREE and open to boys AND girls entering grades 5 thru 12. No prior experience required, but registration is.
A progression of non/light contact games will be intertwined with an introduction of ball skills as well as an introduction to tackling and other basic contact maneuvers. We'll also share information and resources to join an area community club team and how to start a school-based team.
We have partnered with Aledo Rugby and Fort Worth Rugby for a free "Intro to Rugby" clinic on Sautrday, June 28th for boys AND girls entering grades 5 thru 12. It'll be a fun morning learning basic rugby skills and strategies through non/light-contact play. We'll also share information and resources to join an area community club team or start a school-based team.
If you don't know, June is the anniversary .month for both the UIL and Title IX. We believe all students, including girls, have the right to play a contact/tackle sport against others of their same gender in accordance with Federal law.
Title IX was signed into laws on June 23, 1972. We are celebrating this landmark law that has resulted in immense growth in female sports participation by offering a FREE clinic for girls entering grades 6 thru 12. This is a great opportunity for girls to explore a new sport and learn about efforts to close the gap athletic offerings and opportunities offered to them at the secondary and even collegiate levels.
Beyond professional players from the Dallas Jackals, there will be players from collegiate and local women's rugby teams to provide encouragement and mentorship. So whether you've never played or have experience, it'll be fun, educational, and a chance to meet more friends.
Rugby is now played by females on over 250 colleges/universities campuses in the United States. These include Ivy League colleges and major public universities to small colleges and HBCUs as well as all Military Academies. A growing number of NCAA & NAIA schools support rugby as a varsity sport. Rugby has been a Summer Olympic Sport since 2016 for both men and women’s teams. And, the DFW Metroplex along with the rest of North America will host the Rugby World Cup in 2031 (men) and 2033 (women). More recently, the professionalization of women’s rugby is also taking root with teams establishing across the U.S.A.
