The Association shall be governed by a Board of Directors (the “Board”) elected by the members of the Association, which shall have all of the rights, powers, privileges and limitations of liability of directors of a nonprofit corporation organized under Texas laws. The Board shall establish policies and directives governing business and programs of the Association and shall delegate to the Officers and managing staff of the Association, subject to the provisions of these Bylaws, authority and responsibility to see that the policies and directives are appropriately followed.
The Board shall be composed of at least three (3) directors from one of the following recognized interest groups but may expand to represent all herein designated interest groups of the Association:
The Board Director must be an authorized representative of a public school or school district that supports a varsity rugby program. The Director shall be a voice for the concerns and interests of public-school varsity rugby programs. This individual shall also perform as a liaison between the Association and public high school administrators, coaches, students, and parents as well as an advocate for rugby as varsity sport.
The Board Director must be an authorized representative of a private school that supports a varsity rugby program. The Director shall be a voice for the concerns and interests of private school varsity rugby programs. This individual shall also perform as a liaison between the Association and private high school administrators, coaches, students, and parents as well as an advocate for rugby as varsity sport.
The Board Director shall be an authorized representative of public or private school with a student rugby club. The Director shall be a voice for the concerns and interests of student rugby clubs. This individual shall also perform as a liaison between the Association and school administrators, coaches, students, and parents as well as assist in the conversion of student clubs to varsity programs at their respective educational institutions.
The Board Director shall be an authorized representative of a public or private school with a high school boys’ rugby team. The Director shall be a voice for the concerns and interests of male rugby players and their coaches. This person may or may not be designated the commissioner over boys’ competitions.
The Board Director shall be an authorized representative of public or private school with a high school girls’ rugby team. The Director shall be a voice for the concerns and interests of female rugby players and their coaches. This person may or may not be designated the commissioner over girls’ competitions.
This designated group may have one or two Board Directors who shall be a voice for those in the community that have stake in the Association or Rugby generally as a parent, referee, medical professional, officer of a related organization, or the like.
